CG Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation

Hello :) Ivory

So, I caved in and bought the new Cover Girl foundation. I had told myself no more foundations (or concealers for that matter) until I use up some of the stuff I have...yeah, epic fail!

I have never been a fan of CG foundations, or their makeup in general, except their Lash Blast mascara.  I read a few reviews that were raving about this one, and one review even compared it to the MUFE Matte Velvet foundation (which I actually don't think is a dupe at all).

Here is the color I chose. For reference, I am lighter than an NC20, 1W1 bone in Estee Lauder Double Wear, Buff in revlon ColorStay...

Shade I though was close to my skin is 810 "Creamy Ivory"

Here is the swatch on the back of my hand. Right is the EL Double wear in "bone" and Left is CG 810.

As you can see, the colors are way different.  My face itself is pinkish, but I tend to match my foundation to my neck, so that it can look even and no obvious line of demarcation.   This shade, as most CG colors, leans pink/neutral, which look terrible on me.

As far as wear:
*  It is med-full coverage with one layer, and full coverage with 2 layers.
*  It actually does feel like it has a primer, it glides on smoothly and evenly, and it is  very easy to blend.
*  It did not make my oily skin worse at all, in fact, it kept oil under control without looking flat and matte.
*  It does last all day. I do not touch up my face at all, not even blot, and this stays on without making me oily or cakey.

All in all, this foundation does live up to its claims and in my opinion, it is good for oily skin. I did not need a concealer with it, which saves me time in the morning.  The only thing that I dont like is the color, but I know their foundations are not yellow based at all.  I can still pull it off after I use bronzer, but I do have to lightly pull it to my neck, and I sort of hate doing that.

I will definitely try this again in "Buff Beige", which is more yellow and could possibly be a good match for me during the summer if I decide to get at tan.

Is this a dupe to MUFE Matt Velvet? I'd say in terms of coverage and oil control, yes, but as far as texture, no. This feels creamy (no silicone feeling at all), and the finish is satin rather than super flat and matte like MUFE, however, it is a great alternative for those who dont like the feel of EL Double wear or Revlon Color Stay. Definitely needs to be set with a powder.

Have you all tried this foundation?

  1. I might be trying this soon, now that you reviewed, since the EL Double Wear formula changed and my shade doesn't match (1C1).

    1. A friend of mine told me the Lancome Teint Idole 24hr (i think thats the name) was identical to the old EL Double wear! I will get a sample of that one soon and see.

This CG one is awesome though, just wish they were less pink/neutral, but definitely worth the $10!
